BROMSGROVE’S Anthony Blagg has spoken of his delight at being elected deputy leader of Worcestershire County Council.

Coun Blagg, who represents Bromsgrove Central on the authority, had his new role confirmed at the full council meeting last Thursday (January 14).

The 59-year-old, who has been on Worcestershire County Council since 2005 and currently holds the position of Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: “It is an honour to be chosen for this job and I am looking forward to working with the new leader.

“The current period is financially tough for all local authorities but at the county council we still spend £1million every day and I want to make sure that every penny counts.

“We have a geographically balanced cabinet which represents all parts of Worcestershire and I am pleased to say the county as a whole is the third fastest growing economy in the country.”
