AN APPEAL by All Saints Church for tools to send to Africa has been hailed a great success after it yielded two-and-a-half vans full.
Piles of tools, fabric and knitting wools, along with 30 sewing machines and four knitting machines were all donated during the weekend of September 13 and 14 in conjunction with The Diocese of Worcester’s Festival of Churches.
A quarter of the church was full before the items were taken to Workaid in Chesham, where they will be renovated so they can be sent to poor communities in Africa.
Sadly the church even had to turn down some items because there was insufficient transport for any more.
Visitors also looked around All Saints, bought Fairtrade items and examined old registers.
Tessa Carrick, from All Saints, said: “Thank you to everyone who supported our contribution to the Festival of Churches.”
