Bromsgrove care home supports five-a-day cancer campaign

RESIDENTS at a Bromsgrove care home showed their support for the Cancer Prevention Fruity Friday on May 16 by planting out hanging baskets with strawberries.

Those at Breme Care Home in Providence Road joined others around the country by taking part in the event which was organised by the World Cancer Research Fund.

It is aimed at showing how adding one more portion of fruit to the ‘five-a-day’ can reduce the risk of developing cancer.

Scientific research shows eating sensibly, undertaking physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight could prevent about a third of common cancers.

The home’s activities leader Helen Barron said: “Our residents love gardening and getting outdoors so we thought what better way to support this event than by creating beautiful baskets which will provide us with strawberries throughout the summer.”
