Bromsgrove Blue Cross holds furry family fun day

THERE will be plenty of fun for all the family at the annual Bromsgrove Blue Cross Fete, which takes place between midday and 4pm tomorrow (Saturday).

Among the many attractions on the day will be birds of prey, go karts, archery, drumming and circus skills workshops, children’s activities, music from local bands, a fire-eater, stilt walkers and much more.

Tidbury Flyball Team will be in action in the main show ring and animal photographer Nick Ridley will be doing doggy portraits throughout the day.

There will also be a range of food on offer – from savoury pastries and Caribbean preserves to fudges and local cider.

And the popular fun dog show returns to the Wildmoor Lane centre with copious classes, including ‘best child handler’, ‘dog with the waggiest tail’ and ‘best six legs’.

Entry is 50p per class and rosettes and prizes will be given for first to sixth place. Judging starts at 1pm and a full list of categories can be found on the centre’s Facebook group at www.bluecross.org.uk/bromsgrovefacebook

Prior to that, at 12.50pm in the main show ring, there will be a grand parade of dogs who have been previously rescued by the Blue Cross with goody bags for all participants.

It is an exciting time for Bromsgrove Blue Cross – planning permission has been given to create much-needed new facilities at the centre and the proceeds from tomorrow’s fete will be put towards the building work and the cost of caring for the pets currently residing there.

Building work on the revamp begins in the autumn and is due to be completed by late summer next year.

The Bromsgrove Blue Cross will continue to rehome pets and treat injured ones during the works and, once complete, the revamped rehoming centre will boast modern, spacious kennels and cattery, maternity units for puppies and kittens, a veterinary clinic, housing for new arrivals and a dedicated behaviour assessment area.

Everyone is welcome to tomorrow’s annual fete.
