AN AUTUMN fayre at St John’s Court in Bromsgrove went down a storm on Saturday thanks to a tantalising bake-off challenge event organised at the venue.
The team was set a challenge to make a cake which was judged on the day by head cook Pat Slater, nurse Cristina Sincu, John Hodgson, John Godfrey and Michael Bailey.
There was a total of 16 entries – leaving the judges ‘caked out’.
The star baker prize – a £20 voucher kindly donated by Casa Med – went to Laura Wilkes for her raspberry ripple flavoured ‘sunflower cake’, while Faye Upton won the Soggy Bottom prize, which was a wooden spoon for her black forest gateau.
Laura said: “I would like to thank everyone who took part, making and tasting the creations and those who attended the fayre – we all had a fabulous time.”
