AN AUTHOR has taken a trip back in time to the 70s with his first novel Rock Fever – A Classic Rock Journey.
Pete Turvey, who lives in Bromsgrove but grew up in Hagley, has promised to take his readers on a classic rock odyssey with a factual, funny, affectionate and hugely entertaining account of what it was like growing up in the fertile period of rock music’s genesis.
The book tells the tale of musical discovery where concert going behaviour had a sub-culture all of its own – from shouting out ‘wally’ to running down to the front of the stage.
Pete, who owns the specialist framers of vinyl records Freebird Framing, said his book was for the hundreds of thousands of classic rock fans who worshipped their air guitars, banged their collective heads and saluted their rock heroes.
And, through which the collective memories and heartfelt emotions bind the dedicated followers of rock together.
“All rock fans had aspirations of joining a band and becoming a guitar hero.” he added.
“But more often than not life gets in the way and so I have also included a humorous account of the trials and tribulations of learning to play the guitar.
“People recall the period with such fondness and emotion that I decided to write a book to capture the zeitgeist of that time.”
