BEST-SELLING local author and former BBC producer, Sue Watson has already made it into the top 100 of the Amazon Best Seller Charts since last month’s launch of her new book, Bella’s Christmas Bake Off.
The festive romantic comedy is inspired by the cookery shows she worked on at the BBC with Paul Hollywood, James Martin, Sophie Grigson and Ainsley Harriott.
This latest offering from the talented author tells the tale of Bella, a glamorous Nigella-style TV chef who appears to have everything from looks and money to the perfect marriage – yet when the cameras are off, her life isn’t quite what it seems.
Sue said: “I’ve always wanted to write about what it’s like to work on a TV cookery show, especially when you’re the star.”
Complete with Christmas twist, Sue says The Great British Bake Off has been one of the main forms of inspiration behind the book.
She added: “I would have to love to have worked on GBBO, but by the time the show hit the screens I had left TV to become a writer – it’s my favourite TV programme so I wanted to write a book about baking on TV and set it during the Christmas season.”
Originally from Manchester, Sue lives with husband Nick and teenage daughter Eve on The Oakalls Bromsgrove, where she bakes (and eats) lots of cake, while writing … about cake.
