Blackwell Craft Fair to be held to raise funds for Bromsgrove Paralympic hopeful

Updated: 11:41 am, Jun 03, 2016

THE ANNUAL Blackwell Craft Fair will take place at the village’s Methodist Church Hall, Greenhill, tomorrow (Saturday).

The event, the 35th one to be held, is being held from 10am to 4pm with cash raised to go to Leanna Horne to help her bid to get to the summer Paralympics in Rio.

Leanna, who was born with Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy, is facing a race against time to raise more than £3,000 to fund a trip to Berlin which could determine her GB place at this year’s games.

The 28-year-old, who was featured on our front page last month, has been selected by Paralympics GB for the Grand Prix event which takes place at the Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Sports Park in Berlin on July 16 and 17 but she needs to find £3,090 to cover the costs of flights and accommodation for her and a carer.

The craft fair will feature a selection of hand crafted gifts, including glassware by Jenny Edgington, cards and gifts by Karena Crafts, textiles by Pat Davies, wooden seaside themed novelties by Sue Byfield, jams and chutneys by Shelagh O’Loughlin, jewellery by Coconut Pink and boxes by the Happy Crafters.

Admission, which includes refreshments, is 50p.

Everyone is welcome.
