A BARNT Green teenager who shaved her head for the Primrose Hospice has raised more than £1,000.
Katie Simpkin, 15, chopped off her long dark locks for the charity in memory of her grandfather English Rally Champion Tony Fisher who passed away from cancer in 2009.
Katie, who volunteers as a paddock marshal with Hagley and District Light Car Club, had hairdresser and club committee member Geoff Robinson chop off her plait before shaving her head completely, much to the admiration of the crowd, at a special motorsport event last week.
Pat Fisher, who is Katie’s grandmother and a long-standing servant and secretary of the club, said: “We all still miss Tony so very much but I am sure that he would have been very proud indeed of this young lady and her fund-raising idea for such a worthy cause.”
