Barnt Green residents invited to walk up appetite

THE ANNUAL Barnt Green community walk and pig roast will be held next Saturday (September 27).

Everyone is welcome to the event, which will feature four guided walks varying from 2.5 miles to seven.

They will all start and finish at Millennium Park on Hewell Road and take in many local beauty spots, including the Worcester and Birmingham canal, Upper and Lower Bittell Reservoirs, Cofton Church and the Lickey Hills Visitors Centre and woods.

The seven-mile walk starts at 1.30pm, two four-mile walks leave at 3pm and the 2.5-mile stroll kicks off at 4pm.

The pig roast will take place at 5.30pm.

The walks are free, but there are charges for the bar and pig roast. Vegetarian options are available.

Children are welcome, but those under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. Dogs on leads can also take part.

Last year, more than 200 people of all ages took part in what Worcestershire’s countryside access volunteer officer, Amanda Hill, described as the best community walk in the county.
