A MOTHER and father will be sentenced tomorrow morning (Friday) over the death of their baby.
Jessica Wiggins, formerly of Heathfield Road in Webheath, and Tyler Vallance, formerly of the Oakalls in Bromsgrove, appeared at Worcester Crown Court this afternoon but, after hearing the prosecution’s case and the pair’s defences, Judge Juckes has now adjourned it until 11am tomorrow.
Wiggins, 20, was found to have failed to act to prevent the death of 12-week-old Isabella Vallance from the baby’s father following a trial in November.
Vallance, 21, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and manslaughter on the first day of his trial in June but Wiggins was cleared of child cruelty charges in July.
Isabella was taken to the Alexandra Hospital on December 7 and had to be transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital five days later where she later died.
A post-mortem examination revealed she had head injures, nine fractured ribs and had broken her thigh and lower leg.
Jurors heard the injuries had been suffered at the hands of her father who had assaulted her on more than one occasion.
Wiggins and Vallance, who will stand alongside each other in court, had lived together in Redditch following the birth of their child and had been having problems with their relationship.
