RESIDENTS wanting to learn the secrets of how their ancestors survived the winter months are invited to Avoncroft’s Bleak Midwinter Living History Weekend.
Re-enactors will be recreating how people went about their daily lives next Saturday and Sunday (January 17 and 18) with demonstrations, including how to prepare seasonal food that is great at keeping people going through the colder months.
Visitors will be able to learn about Tudor, Victorian and post-war times where even something as simple as lighting a fire for heating and cooking could be hard work.
