A CELEBRATION of the arts will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at Avoncroft Arts Centre which has now been around for 70 years.

The event, being held as part of this year’s Bromsgrove Festival, will feature an exhibition of art and craft work done by members of the Avoncroft Arts Society – from paintings and other pictures to textiles and pottery.

There will also be art work on show done by youngsters from Avoncroft Nursery, along with a kick-boxing demonstration by the Bromsgrove-based Verve at 11am and dancing in the afternoon at 2pm from Avoncroft Dance Group.

There will be a selection of cakes and drinks in the vintage tearoom and the chance to buy art and other items made by members, including a recipe book featuring members’ favourite recipes.

Among the groups on offer today are art media, ceramics, calligraphy, needlework and art textiles, sugarcraft and dance.

The centre also offers French classes, a youth club, yoga, martial arts and the venue is used regularly by Probus groups, Radio Shack and Bromsgrove Photographic Society as well as a local band.

And there are three workshops offering private tuition in painting, sewing and dressmaking and enamel jewellery.

Entrance is free and there is ample car parking.
