AN APPEAL has gone out for on-call firefighters for Bromsgrove.
Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service wants extra personnel to provide cover during the day at the station in Slideslow Drive.
An awareness session for those interested will be held at Bromsgrove Fire Station at 6.30pm on Monday (May 11).
Anyone interested should call HWFRS’ HR department on 01905 368343.
On-call firefighters must live or work within five minutes travel time of the fire station and must be over 18.
Trainee on-call firefighters receive an annual retainer of between £1,635 to £2,180 depending on the level of cover they provide, along with extra pay for attending emergency call outs.
When fully trained, they can earn up to £8,000-a-year, depending on the level of cover provided and the number of call-outs.
Station Commander Phil Berry said the service welcomed both men and women and added: “The role is a challenging yet extremely rewarding one, and provides a vital service within the local community.
“It’s also a chance to learn a range of new skills, such as accident prevention and first aid, that can be of real benefit in other areas of your life, whether at home or at work.”
