ANOTHER £20,000 will be poured into the High Street to ensure it stays vibrant and welcoming, council members have heard.

The motion to add the additional funds, taken from a Section 106 agreement, to pay for town centre improvements, through the 2014/15 capital programme, was unanimously passed at the full Bromsgrove District Council Meeting last Wednesday (September 24).

It all comes after a report on the council’s financial position for the first quarter of the year was released, where the outcome was better than expected.

Labour councillor Rory Shannon said: “I am not against the £20,000 being spent in the town centre, in fact we need it but I do not think it is enough to fix everything.”

Coun Saun Shannon reiterated this and added he thought there were many ‘bits and pieces around the edges’ which needed finishing off and doing up.

Coun Mike Webb said he was really pleased there was cross-party agreement.
