THE ANNUAL Bromsgrove Lecture which featured a talk on the life of Lord Austin has been hailed a great success.

The event, the 30th time it had been held, was a complete sell-out and speaker Max Hunt gave an enthralling insight into the motoring mastermind in Bromsgrove School’s Routh Hall.

He talked about Herbert Austin’s beginnings in a family farm, the development of sheep shearing equipment, the early development of his cars, the progress of the Longbridge factory and the enormous contribution to the war effort during two world wars.

The audience were very attentive and gave the speaker a huge ovation at the end of the event, which was organised by the Bromsgrove Society’s Local History Society.
