THE ANNUAL Bromsgrove Court Leet Fair Day, procession and annual street market will take place in the town centre tomorrow (Saturday).
It will begin with a procession from Housman Hall at 10.20am with the assize of meat at 10.35am in the High Street and the assize of ale at 10.45am at The Red Lion.
The reading of the charter, as granted by King John in 1199 will be done by Bailiff John Wheatley at the Housman Statue at 11am.
Members of the Court Leet, as they parade down the High Street, will be dressed in full robes and regalia.
The day pays homage to the days when it was the ancient Court’s job to test the ale, meat and leather to see if it was fit for purpose for the people of Bromsgrove.
The event is free and no tickets are required.
