AN AMERICAN-themed summer fayre will be held at Wychbold First and Nursery School next Friday (July 4).

This year’s event, at 3.30pm on American Independence Day, will feature a variety of traditional stalls, including those selling cakes, plants, sweets and second hand books.

There will also be hot-dogs on sale, a football shoot-out, craft activities, face painting, bouncy castle, a tombola, lucky dip, jazzy jar and hook-a-duck.

A grand raffle will give visitors the chance to win passes to local attractions, tickets to sporting events, meals out and a summer hamper.

PTA member Rachel Kiernan said the summer fayre was the biggest fund-raiser of the year, was always lots of fun and enjoyed by pupils, parents and the local community.

“We hope as many people as possible mosy on down to help us raise lots of money whilst having a rip roaring time.”

Cash raised at the event, organised by the Friends of Wychbold First and Nursery School PTA, will be put towards new equipment for the small village school.

This year alone, the small group of parents and carers have bought iPads and musical instruments and paid towards the cost of school trips and improvements to the school grounds.

Admission is 50p for adults and free to children.
