AN ALVECHURCH man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison following a number of violent and sexual assaults committed over a period of eight years.

Stuart Bayley, 33 and formerly of Randall Avenue, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court yesterday (August 19) for two counts of sexual activity with a child, rape, harassment, inflicting grievous bodily harm, wounding, battery and making threats to kill.

In addition to his 13 year prison sentence, Bayley will remain on licence once released for a further five years and is required to register as a sex offender for life.

The officer in charge of the case, DC Sophie Gaffney said the offences date back to 2003 and officers encourage anyone who has been a victim of similar crimes, regardless of when they happened, to come forward and report them

“I would like to reassure anyone who has been or is a victim of any form of violence or sexual abuse that they can contact police and they will be listened to and treated with care and sensitivity.

“Together with partner agencies, we will give them all the support we can and where possible prosecute those responsible.”
