Aladdin comes to Bromsgrove

Bromsgrove Editorial 11th Dec, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

THERE will be traditional panto fun from Redditch and Bromsgrove theatre group All and Sundry when it stages Aladdin.

The show – at Artrix – centres around the poor laundry boy who risks his life to get a sight of Princess Jasmine.

When he achieves that, the pair fall in love and, just as the executioner is about to behead the hero, he is rescued by the mysterious Abanazer.

Aladdin, in return, then has to retrieve a magic lamp from a deep dark cave but, following an argument, Abanazer seals Aladdin n the cave and leaves him there to die. Luckily, help is at hand, from an unusual genie, giving Aladdin the chance to have a showdown with Abanazer and the opportunity to take the hand of Princess Jasmine, making his family rich in the process.

The production, which runs from Wednesday (December 17) to next Sunday (December 20), will be great fun for all the family, featuring fantastic music, dancing and singing, plenty of audience participation, a breath-taking UV light scene and, of course, loads of one-liners.

Among the many comedy characters are Dame Widow Twankey, brother Wishee Washee and some inept policemen.

There are shows at 7pm each evening and matinees at 2pm next Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are £13 (£12 concessions) for the Wednesday and Thursday performances. Family tickets are available for £41.

Admission to shows next Friday, Saturday and Sunday are £14.50 (£13.50 concessions) and £45 for a family ticket.
