AN ESTATE agent which held an afternoon tea party in its Barnt Green office raised £206.56 for The Alzheimer’s Society.
The event took place at Oulsnam’s in Hewell Road last month and the day began well when staff received their first pre-order of the day at 9.20am meaning they completely sold out of scones.
More impressive than that, the chocolate roulade nearly sold out even before the doors opened that morning.
From then, there was a steady flow of local residents and clients who also stopped for a chat as well as buy cakes.
Among the cakes on offer were lemon drizzle cake, carrot cake, Victoria sponge, cupcakes, chocolate roulade, maple syrup cake, apple and cinnamon cake, scones, flapjacks, mars bar crispies, tiffin and mince pies.
Laura Fiddes-Baron, who organised the event, said: “Everybody was very generous with donations which we think that had a lot to do with the fact so many people have had a personal experience of somebody suffering with Alzheimers – it’s something that’s close to a lot of peoples hearts.”
She added they were so delighted with the response they are considering holding another one later this year.
