TOWN MP Sajid Javid has spoken of his pride after statistics showed 4,450 apprenticeships had been created in Bromsgrove since 2010.

The MP, who is also Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, has been leading Government work to improve the quality and quantity of apprenticeships across the country and this news coincides with National Apprenticeship Week.

Mr Javid said in the last Parliament over 2.5million people started apprenticeships in the UK and it was hoped there would be at least 3million more in this one.

“I want us to give all of Britain’s young people the opportunity they need to rise to the top.”

“It means that more young people living here have the opportunity to fulfill their potential.

“That’s something I’m determined to ensure across the whole country.

“I’m also thrilled that my recent Bromsgrove Jobs Fair, supported by the Standard, has already matched a number of students up with local companies offering apprenticeships, such as Morgan Motor Company.”
