Plenty of entertainment for the hard of hearing at Bromsgrove's Artrix

TWO theatre productions which have been adapted for hard of hearing audiences are being staged at Artrix in February.

The Best Thing – a swinging sixties story of unconditional love – will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday (February 6).

Suitable for both hearing and deaf audiences aged 12+, this bitter-sweet production from Vamos is about mistaken morals, broken hearts, beehives and record players.

Then at 7pm on February 21, there will be Red Earth Theatre’s The Remarkable Tale of Oliver Twist.

The production brings to life some of Dickens’ best characters in an imaginative and colourful way.

Packed with surprises, it features projected captions and graphics to improve access for children and for adults with different communication needs, including those who are hard of hearing and not sign language users.

Artrix’s learning and engagement co-ordinator TC Peppercorn said “We’re delighted to be able to stage these two productions as part of our commitment to widen our community engagement programme.”

Tickets cost £14 (£12 over 60s, under 16s and students) for The Best Thing, and £7 (£5 under 16s) for The Remarkable Tale of Oliver Twist.

All tickets can be booked online at www.artrix.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 01527 577330.
