Band set to deliver musical fusion at Artrix

A BAND that fuses folk, Celtic and Bluegrass music with pop and rock will perform at Bromsgrove’s Artrix on Sunday (July 26).

The Paperboys were formed by Mexican born Tom Landa in the mid-1990s in Vancouver who, after penning a dozen songs, found a group of musicians with similar musical interests. Shortly after recording their first CD, they toured Canada in a used van they bought for just $500.

Since then, they have produced seven albums and embarked on countless tours of North America and Europe, made TV and film appearances, written movie scores, received rave reviews in the media and earned industry awards and numerous other accolades, including Canada’s version of The Grammys – The JUNO Award.

The sound of the band has evolved a lot since the early days, and now digs deep into Tom’s Mexican heritage by adding Son Jarocho and Afro-Mexican grooves to the mix and horns.

The Paperboys are billed as a must-see band who are one of the most exciting and exhuberant to come out of the folk-roots corner.

Sunday’s gig starts at 7.40pm and tickets are £14. For more information or tickets, visit www.artrix.co.uk or call 01527 577330.
