Audience had a ball watching Jigsaw's superb Cinderella

THERE was a fantastic three hours of festive fun for all the family when The Jigsaw Players staged their annual panto Cinderella at The Trinity Centre in Lickey.

Every single member of this all-inclusive theatre company’s cast played their part in the production and you would struggle to find a show with so much audience participation and one that was packed with so many songs.

It centred around Cinderella and her quest to get to the ball and meet the handsome Prince Rupert, despite the best efforts of the two ugly sisters and evil step-mum who was renowned for killing off men with her poisoned custard.

Among the highlights were the solo vocal performances of Hannah Price as Dandini, singing Rather Be and Olivia Withey as the Fairy Godmother. Her duet with Cinderella (Madison Copson-Godwin) on Impossible was fantastic and her rendition of Bibbity Bobbity Boo towards the end of the first act would not have looked out of place on a bigger stage.

Laura Stone, as Baroness Hardup put in an all-round good performance with the pick of her moments being the song in the second half about bringing the good times back.

And Phoebe Fletcher, as Buttons, did well to motivate the crowd into participating every step of the way.

Keelan Pavitt as the hard of hearing Baron Hardup also enjoyed plenty of comical moments.

But the stars of this show were the ugly sisters – Griselda (Charlie Dealaselle) and Gertrude (Rav Bath) – who had the audience in stitches throughout, particularly with their constant insults at each other where they were campness personified.

Other great moments included the comical version of the 12 Days of Christmas which ensured the second half started with a bang and the medley of party classic songs at the ball before the interval. With classics from Grease and Abba, the Cha Cha Slide, the Timewarp and even a smidgin of Guns and Roses’ Sweet Child O’ Mine, you could not help tap your feet, clap your hands or sing along.

This was a fast-paced panto from start to finish and, with fantastically choreographed dances, a Minion, Peppa Pig and Hello Kitty all making appearances and, of course, a happy ending, it was a superb show with something for everyone.

The final show is tomorrow (Sunday) at 2pm.

If you go and see the show, just make sure you ‘don’t touch the custard!’.
